Hot summer days are great for a tan,
but can wreak havoc on hair. Heat and humidity can turn a stunning
hair day into a frizzy mess. Dry hair sucks up the moisture in the
air, which causes it to expand and kink. The result is a head full of
frizzy flyaways that no brush can tame, but it doesn’t have to be
this way. There are some simple steps anyone can take to make locks
lay down. Check out these tips from A-List stylists.
- Don’t Rush. Leonardo Manetti,
co-founder of ION Studio in New York says women that rush out the
down with damp hair will pay for it. On toasty days, Manetti says
it’s vital to thoroughly dry hair to prevent frizz. Split hair into
sections, use a rolling brush, and blow-dry every part.
- Go ionic. Using an ionic blow dryer
compresses the cuticle and prevents hair from ballooning. Attachments
that force air through a smaller space can also help prevent frizz,
according to Allure magazine.
- Rub hand cream into your hair. Did
you know a little hand cream could fight frizz? Rita Ragone,
celebrity stylist and makeup artist from Astor Place Hair told Daily
News about this easy tip. "Everyone in the summertime has to
slather their bodies with lotion. Whatever's left over on your hands,
you can actually run through from midshaft to the ends of your hair
and you will not have frizzies at all."
- Brush in a little product. If the
frizzy flyaways are a summer bummer, beauty experts from Allure
suggest breaking out a toothbrush to rub in a little product. For
straight hair, spritz a little shine spray on the brush and comb down
wispy hair. For curly hair, put a drop of anti-frizz cream on the
brush and tap down the halo of flyaways.
- Place a frozen towel on your head.
It might sound crazy, but this quick fix does the trick. Rita Ragone
suggests putting a towel in the freezer, get it nice and cold, and
then wrap hair into it. "I do this on my celebrity clients
because they're always in a rush," explains Ragone. "Just
put it on your head and count to 10. You take it off and the
frizziness comes right out."
